Why do so many people type "looser" when they mean "loser"?

Such as, "Barack Obama is a looser." At first, I thought it was a typo, but I see so many people type "loser" with 2 "o"'s that I wonder if there is another cause. Is it poor education? Some kind of new age slang? Was the official spelling of "loser" changed while I wasn't looking?
