How did people/the government respond to the Volcanic eruption : Mt Krakatoa 1833?

If you mean the 1883 eruption, the government of the Dutch East Indies did nothing in advance because they had no idea what was coming or what to do. And after the eruption there was a very slow and feeble relief effort. Mostly what they did was bury the portion of the 50,000 dead that they could find.
