Are old fashioned gender myths the reason that people find gender symmetry or female dominance in abuse?

Do you know how often I'm told to fear men,every day as a woman? There's definitely some prejudice and myths that men are so terribly violent..I'm going to get beaten or d if I walk alone..if a man looks at you he wants to you. We're taught to fear violence from you guys all the time.
