Yugoslavians, when did inflation become a serious problem for the Yugoslav economy?

When I was a child I spent 2 weeks in July 1989 at Mali Losinj. At that time, Yugoslavia was for us (Czechoslovaks) like the West. I was surprised to find out now that in 1989 Yugoslavia was experiencing hyperinflation. I thought that during hyperinflation the economy collapses totally. Mali Losinj seemed very prosperous and stable to me in 1989.
